Public Service Announcement From Councilman Pruski

MD 175 traffic has switched near BWI parkway (295)

Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) contractor (INTREN) has set up the lane shifts and closures. This includes concrete barrier installation, quick curb installation (to delineate the east and west bound travel lanes), and temporary pavement markings. If the roadway surface is wet, too cold, or if the residue from the roadway treatments applied during the snow storm will not allow placement of the pavement markings, this work may have to be rescheduled again. We will keep you updated.

Major traffic impacts are anticipated but this work is necessary to relocate a major gas line on MD 175 (Annapolis Road/Jessup Road) near the MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) Interchange. Crews will shift westbound MD 175 travel lanes to the eastbound lanes. MD 175 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between National Business Parkway and MD 295, a distance of about one-quarter mile.

In addition to the lane closures on MD 175, utility crews will also close the ramp from southbound MD 295 to westbound MD 175. Motorists will be detoured using the loop ramps at the MD 295/MD 175 interchange. Finally, utility crews will temporarily close Race Road at Orchard Road. Motorists will be guided to Wigley Road to Orchard Road and back to Race Road. The lane closure on MD 175, Race Road and ramps at the interchange are expected to re-open mid-February but this date is dependent on when BGE can start the work.

If you have any questions regarding BGE’s work, please contactBGEPipeline@bge.com or call BGE at 800-685-0123 and reference the MD 295/MD 175 interchange project.
